“There’s no snow in Aarhus.”
In my first month in Aarhus last year (September, 2017), I met two ladies in a networking event. At some point during our conversation, we started talking about the weather. Yes, we were doing it like the Danes, weather, weather, weather.
The rest of Denmark may be covered with snow, but not Aarhus
One of the ladies explained that there’s no snow in Aarhus. The rest of Denmark may be covered with snow, but not Aarhus. I didn’t ask where she got her theory, but being new in a certain city gives you this certain attitude to just agree on everything said to you. So, I nodded and said, “I see, no snow in Aarhus. Great!”
We’ll guess what? The weather fairy heard us and decided to play tricks on us by sending bountiful snow this winter. Not just one day, not just two, but forever! Okay, I’m kidding. And as the jokes are on us, snow did not come on Christmas, as everyone gleefully expected and hoped and prayed. Snow came three months later, on a supposed to be warmer March.
Let’s just enjoy the snow and all the beauty it brings. Because in all seriousness, it truly is a different world when snow comes
But who’s complaining? Definitely not the car owners and drivers, the cyclists, the students or everyone for that matter. (Smiley, smiley!)
Let’s just enjoy the snow and all the beauty it brings. Because in all seriousness, it truly is a different world when snow comes. Thank you, Aarhus fairy, for letting me experience snow in Aarhus. I’m not complaining but maybe December and January would be a better month for it next time, okay?
